News sentiment is a method of analyzing news and reports focused on determining their emotional tone—whether the news is positive, neutral, or negative. This sentiment reflects the mood of the market and investors toward a specific company, sector, or the market as a whole and can significantly influence the price movements of stocks and other financial assets. Positive news, such as better-than-expected earnings or successful product launches, generates positive sentiment and often leads to price increases. Conversely, negative information, such as declining revenues or legal issues, can worsen sentiment and cause stock prices to drop. Today, news sentiment is often evaluated automatically using algorithms and artificial intelligence that analyze large volumes of news in real time, enabling investors to quickly respond to current market moods.

Why News sentiment?

The purpose of this inquiry is to determine a company’s sentiment based on the analysis of news and reports. In our system, we focus on identifying companies that exhibit positive or, at least, neutral sentiment. The analysis can be performed manually, where an evaluator subjectively assesses the current mood, or it can be automated using AI tools that are freely available online.
